Mira and I went on a run this morning up to the lookout place that I fell in love with yesterday and saw a beautiful rainbow!! The entire thing. One end was in the ocean, the other one was further down the beach on the island. We decided to actually run on the beach, and when we had turne around, we passed Rachel. And the three of us decided to go swimming! The water felt great. We stripped down to our sports bras and shorts and jumped in and explored a part of the beach further down. And that’s when we saw the double rainbow. I wish I had had my camera. I saw it later when I got out the shower, so I took a picture, but it was nothing like it had been earlier in the morning.
Nino gave a lecture and introduction to our project this morning. Remember when I talked about how Nino said we’re a family? Well, we are the TULANE/SICILY LAB tribe, and I’m in the TIC clan. Clans were decided on based on what room we decided to have our desk in. Each clan (TIC, TAC, and TOC) were given a different segment of land in the town to determine three areas of crisis, places that needed some love and that we could improve upon. So the professors turned us loose from 10:30 am until 5 to find these areas and discover and document by sketching and taking pictures.
I hiked all the way up the mountain to where the resort is, and then as far east as I could go before I was out of our designated area. It was pretty steep, but a good walk. We met up for lunch and determined which areas we wanted to talk about during our presentation/discussion that we were going to be having at 5. The areas we are focusing on are around the beach, the outlets to the beach, an overlook/courtyard (the one I liked) and the intersection of a couple of roads right next to that area. I’m going to draw a couple diagrams for our desk crits tomorrow, and grab some dinner from the pizzareria across the street.
